Cold or hot?

A powerful snow storm has forced your car off road and down a long hill. You now find yourself stuck in a very vulnerable situation. The car in which you treasured is half buried and clearly no longer functional. Your cell phone has died and since your car will not start you cannot charge the battery. The only food you have is a tasteless sports bar.

You thankfully were not injured from the crash but the snow continues to heavily fall and night approaches. The temperature is slowly dropping to a bitter cold. Your coat is nice and warm but your jeans are already starting to get wet. The road in which you have traveled on is more silent than a sleeping baby.

Curiosity has taken the best of you as you have been separated from the group of tourists you were traveling with. The temperature rises as noon approaches and the heat begins to turn unbearable. You know the dangers of desert. You don't know how far you wandered away from your group and as you climb to the top of a large boulder you find out that they are no where in sight.

Your backpack feels like it is getting heavier by the second. Your body cries when you see you only have two bottles of water left along with the sandwich you had made earlier. You try using your cell phone, but the desert lacks service. Where's carrot top when you need him?

Which situation would you rather be in? Take into consideration any resources you could have available and how you will be able to get out of the situation.

  1. Definitely the cold. I'd rather have to cut off my leg from frostbite than suck water that is wringed out from dirt compacted in an old shirt (I don't know, I saw it on some survivor show and it looked terrible).
